full circle

So. My great uncle, who is one of my all-around favorite people, is quite suddenly losing his battle with cancer, and may not make it til Christmas, when he is very much looking forward to finally meeting Puddin Face for the first time.

Two weeks ago when I talked to him last he seemed to be doing okay. Now he’s having trouble talking. And breathing. And swallowing.

This won’t be my first loss, by any stretch, but is turning out to be one of those things that is hitting me way harder than I knew it would.

So I’m doing what I always do when I’m trying not to lose my shit….I blog. (I do it for fun, too, but this one is therapeutic.)

It occurred to me while I was watching Puddin Face in her newly much-more-mobile state, swaggering around like a very tiny, bowlegged cowboy off to a duel.

‘Hmm’ I thought to myself. ‘Why does that ring a bell?’

Then it hit me. Of course! She reminded me of me when I was carrying her. I waddled in very much the same manner.

So I hopped on this train of thought and decided to see how far I could ride it before the conductor came and asked to see my ticket, as I am wont to do. So here I give you, gentle readers…..

The Mayor’s List of Similarities Between Pregnancy and Infancy:

1) In the early days, it’s best to stick to a very bland diet.

2) You ‘spit up’ an awful lot

3) You cry over everything and nothing

4) Strangers approach you constantly

5) You have a pot belly

6) Your day can be made or broken depending on your digestion

7) You waddle when you walk

8 ) You’re very gassy

9) You seem to pee every 5 minutes

10) You don’t sleep more than a few hours at a time

11) Taking a dump can take 30 seconds or all day

12) You have chubby feet

13) You outgrow your clothes at an alarming rate

and finally, pregnancy is like infancy because….

14) It takes a long time to lose all the baby fat 😛

Feel free to add your own…I’m sure there are more that I’m forgetting/blocking out

Thanks, as always, for reading!
