puddle of love

So the other day a friend posts a picture of her puppy and I make the comment that he is, of course, adorable, and she makes the comment that he is, in fact, adorable, and as such she has a hard time disciplining him. I then comment about how she has seen what I’m up against with my girls, and inquire how strict she imagines I am. I also comment that they seem to have the same defense…puppies and toddlers…that little head-tilt. Gets us every time.

This got me realizing there are far more similarities between young puppies and young people:

1) both whine so much it’s like a soundtrack

2) both pee indiscriminately

3) both have no shame about pooping while making eye contact

4) both would rather eat what you’re eating

5) both will happily eat off the floor..and even seem to prefer it

6) both will cheerfully destroy just about anything whilst playing

7) both are halted by certain television programs

8 ) both will immediately get into things they shouldn’t the second you turn your back

9) both seem fascinated by the toilet but won’t use it

10) both are always happy to see you when you come home

11) both could care less when you have a bad hair day

12) both could care less when you’re on the phone

13) both will instantly dive for any nearby puddles

14) both will do inappropriate things around strangers

15) both will act out when you’re not home

16) both will occasionally leave you a ‘puddle of love’ to find at inopportune moments

and finally

17) both have way, WAY more energy than you do.

Thanks for reading and feel free to leave your own 🙂

Feedback on my new home is also welcome..whether you are new or moved with me! 😉

Yes, both babies and puppies have the same defense mechanism of turning potential predators to mush… None are immune…except maybe the dingo ;o)

…and puppies and babies? yeah… no argument there… I’m not sure which is worse in this house… my toddler, my 43 year old son (heh) or my 2 small furry female bitches. lol

Hi Mary! Cass recommended your blog. You both give me lots of funny things to think about, but I still want to have a family someday. 🙂

Aw thanks for reading! Don’t get me wrong…I love being a mommy more than anything in the world. Not only is it endlessly rewarding, it allows me to ‘leech the dork’ on a daily basis. They love it and even ask for more. Huzzah! 😉

Those are great! And so very true. I hopped on over here from ‘The World Through My Eyes’ cuz Big Mama Cass recommended you so highly. I’ll be back, you have a delightful blog.

Observational skills of a hawk, comic skills of a feather duster (you’re going to laugh if you want to or not)… I think I just called you a feather duster.

Great post which I enjoyed — I have a beagle, which is like having a strong-willed toddler, only with filthier looks. 🙂

    Best,

    Justin.

  18. Mary Says:

Thanks Justin! Really enjoyed your posts so far too that I’ve read now…though none since May *cough* 😉
Feather duster fits me right down to the ground. I’m silly, have been known to tickle, and need frequent cleaning. Works for me!
Beagles are so great. Seems you have a cat too? How fun!
Thanks again for stopping by 🙂
